There’s one more thing to note about Clinton Portis today, something I failed to mention in my earlier post about his modeling career: he’s been nominated for yet another FedEx Ground Player of the Week award, which means that it’s time to get voting. The competition is stiff (Matt Forte really had an impressive day on Sunday), so every vote is going to count on this one. Portis has already won three of these FedEx awards this season.
One of the reasons for the sporadic posting today is that I was down at the Verizon Center, chasing something that never quite came together like I had hoped. Despite that, the trip was worth it: I was able to meet forward Caron Butler of the Washington Wizards and get a picture of him holding a “Vote the Redskins Ticket” bumper sticker. Any day when you can honestly type that phrase is a day worth getting out of bed for.
And, as Butler knows a thing or two about effective All-Star vote campaigns, this picture feels to me like a good omen. Between this and Clinton Portis’s fifth nomination earlier, it’s just been a voting kinda day for me.
Well, it’s a Tuesday during the 2008 Redskins season, which must mean that it’s time for Clinton Portis to be nominated as the FedEx Ground Player of the Week. Portis has already won the award twice this season, all selected by fan voting, so you probably know the drill by now: click, vote, hurray (hopefully)!
Also, Mark Newgent of the Washington Redskins Examiner is getting out the Redskins vote in Baltimore. (Scroll down to the bottom picture.) It may not look like that much, but I lived in Baltimore for several years, and I can assure you that it’s a very brave move.
