  • David Elfin has the injury summary that I missed in my practice update, including a report that Jon Jansen won’t be making the trip. For the record, the official injury report has Jansen listed as “doubtful,” but we’ll see.
  • The Curly R’s Ben Folsom was able to get a look at the inside of FedExField the other day at a Jason Campbell charity event, and he has quite the comprehensive post on the subject: photos, videos, text … well worth checking out.
  • And The Om Field has part one of a very detailed look at the team’s approach to the offensive and defensive lines.

  1. No Jon Jansen. This can only be a good thing.

  2. Would it hurt our cap if we trade Jansen for a 6th round draft pick?

  3. If it wasn’t after the trade deadline I would suggest we trade him for a bag of gummi bears. We win in that deal.

  4. Jansen is the better lineman, Heyer and Fabini have had trouble in the tackle position this season. Heyer has given up more sacks and also been penalized more so I’d take him over the rest. Both tackle positions need to be addressed in the draft along with the rest of the line. Overall the line has been pretty steady most of the sacks this season have come from good coverage or Campbell holding the ball to long.

  5. KEY word is “has”. The line isn’t doing anything NOW but getting it’s QB hit. Jansen with a bad knee and couldn’t pass block that good before the bad knee, sorry but I’ll take Fabini or Heyer which are both healthy anyday over you’re one legged Jansen.

  6. OK. Most of the sacks have been on WRs not getting open and Jason Campbell holding the ball for more than 1 second…Jansen has sucked dont blame it all on Jason or the WRs. They have nothing to with him get beat by a defensive lineman.

  7. skinsfan4life are you Jansen? lol

  8. Obviouslly you must be a Bucs fan, skinsfan4life, because you have NEVER seen a Redskins game this year. Jansen was good in the past, but one too many injuries has took a toll on his ability to block DEs. I know, who you are. You’re his agent, right.

  9. I’d like somebody who follows college ball to tell me, how many O-linemen are going into the draft!!! It wouldn’t hurt my feelings if we took O-linemen in every round (I’m fantasizing, of course)!

That being said, it would be a big mistake to dump Jansen or the other vets. They have a great deal of skill to teach, they just don’t have the bodies they use to. The Skins have used older linemen since the days of George Allen, that obviousely doesn’t work any more.

  10. Lighten up on Jansen. He has given the team a lot of good years through some really bad years. He a Redskin for life in my opinion. Now that he may be at the end of his career he does not deserve the abuse by some fans or press. It is the coaches who need to evaluate his ability and determine if he still has the skills to play. You can’t blame a man for not wanting to quit. Once it’s over it’s over…..there is no senior NFL tour for these guys.

  11. FIRE ZORN!!!

  12. My. How constructive.

  13. It’s time to cut ties with Jansen, the guys never healthy.

  14. I’m thinking all the Jansen haters must be newbie Redskin fans. YES, he has lost a step, he cant endure a full season anymore, but alot of people forget how good he was on some subpar teams. Hes not a starter anymore due to durability, but he is an excellent backup. He can still play at a high level for a few weeks when needed

  15. Deez, you should get your facts straight before you make comments. Janson has only given up 3 sacks this season, Samuels has given up 2, the rest came from good coverage and the middle of the o-line, which total 28 sacks. Do some research and make educated comments. Campbell has been getting an average of 3 seconds to throw the ball, which is very good and Zorn has said that he is still making bad reads and missing opportunities due to hesitating throwing the ball.

Geffory Eidenbugh, what would firing Zorn accomplish? Another year on learning a new offence, another year of instability within the organisation. What good would that do? Not very many rookie coaches have had a winning record there first year. Does he need to learn some things? Yes. But firing the guy is just idiotic. He is building a team that will be successful it just takes time. The whole organisation is slow getting out of all the trouble Snyder caused when he first took over the team. The next few drafts should really help us build a great team. It just won’t happen over night.

  16. call me loyal but Jansen has been good to Redskins I wouldn’t want him gone. Dunno what firing Zorn would accomplish.

  17. I think Campbell is getting about 2.5 secs average. Thats about the NFL average.
Keep ZORN. He he will turn around this Team in a few years.
