I haven’t had anything to say about the Plaxico Burress situation, mainly because I don’t find Burress to be a particularly captivating character at this point. He was already being de-emphasized in the Giants offense, and, really? If you’ve read one story about a wide receiver inadvertently discharging a firearm into his own leg (possibly while attempting to unload it), you’ve read them all.
But Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs managed to get a cute little jab in at Burress during his media session today. It starts when he’s asked if he feels there is a ‘Battle of the Beltway’ rivalry.
- “I think that’s more for you all. We don’t look at it like that. This is just another day at the office. We know a lot of those guys down there. They’ve got some ‘U’ [University of Miami] boys, we’ve got some ‘U’ boys and we’re only 45 minutes away from each other. So we always bump into each other. It’s going to be a good, fun game.”
Fair enough. The answer to the follow-up question, though, actually made me laugh.
On if there are legitimate bragging rights inside the clubs and around town: “I’m not going to a night club. Haven’t you heard what happened this past week?”
