Clinton Portis is having a heck of a year. He’s currently leading the league in rushing, he’s a candidate for NFL MVP, and he’s in the top ten in Pro Bowl fan voting (as of the last set of official numbers released).
He’s also a little bit of a fashion icon, not just for his T-shirt modeling for the guys at Mister Irrelevant or for the “rich textiles” of his postgame ensembles, but also as the legitimate centerpiece of L-R-G clothing’s Holiday 2008 ad campaign — a campaign that includes a behind-the-scenes video of his photo shoot.
And here are a couple of the print ads:
Interestingly, the first time Portis modeled for L-R-G was 2005, his best season as a Redskins until this one. And their other NFL player model this year? Vikings RB Adrian Peterson, who has been trading the rush lead with Portis for the last few weeks.
If L-R-G can convince enough NFL running backs of a correlation between their gear and yardage totals, they’ll have quite the stable of guys begging to model.
Anyhow, here’s Portis’s print ad from those long-ago days of 2005.
