Monday Redskins Links – 9/22

It’s been a surprisingly grim-n-gritty day here for the Monday after a win, so let’s only link to happy stuff.

  1. I’d have to agree with that whole post on the Heyer thing. These games get so close that a mistake by the officials really gets magnified, but there was no real reason to call a personal foul on that. A defensive lineman is getting blocked while standing in the middle of the offensive line, who would’ve thought that would happen?

I’m just glad that didn’t cost us the game. Like the personal foul against Tillman in the Bears-Tampa Game.

Following that thought, according to the Tampa Bay commericals and Jeremy Trueblood it would’ve been ok for Heyer to punch Dockett multiple times and then put his elbow on his throat after the play is over, just not block him while the play is going on.

  2. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA…… Yeah, I laughed for about 10 minutes after watching that Zorn-Largent video. Being from Seattle, the Seahawks have always been my #2 team, and when they play each other in the playoffs, my extended family will give me crap, but I always hope we’ll beat them in Seattle.

About to read the Heyer link, but on the Peter King slight for the top 15, I can’t believe he ranked the Chargers, as terrible as they’ve been playing, over a team that’s 2-1 and building momentum.

  3. I still don’t understand why the play was negated even with the penalty.

In the section titled “Penalty Enforced on Following Kickoff” the NFL rules state, “When a team scores by touchdown, field goal, extra point, or safety and EITHER team commits a personal foul, UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT, or obvious unfair act DURING the down, the penalty will be assessed on the following kickoff.”

In other words, it should have been 15 yards on the kickoff, NOT a repeat of 1st down. The rules are pretty cut and dry and I haven’t seen anyone really mention this yet.

  4. I thought the same thing, but wasn’t sure of the actual rules as to whether or not the penalty would affect the TD. It was such an odd call that I don’t think I’ve ever seen a similar situation to fall back on.

  5. So Zorn was a model for a gay escort service?

  6. bad calls happen and you deal with it and win the game, BUT it was a ******** call. The lesson is, Redskins can go out of their way to beat the **** out of the Cardinals and still win the game. Now if we can somehow go 3-2 We will be in very good position.
