Gary Zimmerman, Hall of Famer

This is a sort of thankless position for Gary Zimmerman, as far as order of speeches go. Given that a solid 90% of this crowd is comprised of Redskins fans, and that Darrell Green just left the podium and Art Monk is closing out the evening next, an awful lot of people are up and heading to the restrooms or wherever. Presenter Pat Bowlen is giving a really heartfelt speech, very nervously and quietly, to a whole lot of empty chairs. (The side bleachers are still full, though.) At least people are settling back in now that Zimmerman himself is up there — quoting the Dalai Lama, no less. That HAS to be a Hall of Fame first.

Congratulations, Gary Zimmerman.

  2. I was at the ceremony and thought Zimm’s speech was phenomenal.

  3. I thought Elway looked like an ungrateful jerk up their texting while Zimm was giving him thanks.
