Day 7 – Plenty of Fans to Appreciate

Sometime around 5:00 this morning, cars started waiting in the middle of Loudoun County Parkway for the gates to the parking lot to open (which wasn’t going to happen until around 10:30), so that the occupants could then wait in line for the gates to training camp to open (which wasn’t going to happen until noon.)

By 10:00, the line of cars stretched back along the length of Loudoun County Parkway, completely blocking the left lane and looking not entirely unlike the end of Field of Dreams.

People had left their vehicles to tailgate, eat, and generally enjoy the fine streetside view, although most of them had been herded back to their cars by a Loudoun County policeman by the time I got out there.

A group that had moved to a nearby shady area (leaving “the car down there in line with the wives”) had been there since five, “grilling out, eating some steak, some potatoes, hamburgers, some hotdogs.” Breakfast of champions, I suppose, although I don’t think I could swing quite ALL of that.

The youngest of the crew, Andre, was wearing a Santana Moss shadow jersey. “I just want to see Jason Campbell, see him have a good practice,” he said. “And no injuries.”

Looks like it’s going to be just as crazy here at the Park as everyone said it would be
