Good News For Everyone

Those of you who missed Gary Fitzgerald’s excellent and thorough training camp coverage from last year can relax and rejoice:  Gary is back covering practices as of this afternoon’s session.  This ensures that you all will have the frequent, detailed updates you require, and frees me up to cover ins and outs of the rest of Redskins Park, along with whatever else I think is worthwhile.  Everyone wins.

Additionally, let me recommend the excellent and detailed work that the guys at Extreme Skinshave been doing from the morning practices:

So there’s still plenty of great training camp coverage out there.  And I certainly hope you’ll all stick with me as well.

Sorry for the long period of silence this afternoon.  I was unexpectedly called out of the office to help pick up Jason Taylor… but that’s a subject for another post.  Thanks for your patience.

  1. THANK YOU!!!

  2. Promoted already? Official blogger/baggage handler? Get nice, son.

  3. You guys are dicks for no reason whatsoever. Let the man do his job, you ungrateful degenerates.

  4. Matt,
I want to turn to you for what’s going on, and I know it has only been 2 days, but please, less about your baggage handling and more on J. Taylor’s mood when you picked him up, or his appearance or anything about the players. Make the posts about THE SKINS players and activities. That is what I am dying to hear about!!! also i know you said more on JT later, but again, the point of a blog is the now, what you saw, what you are seeing live and at the moment.
    Good luck Man.

  5. I was just joshing. Do your thing, Matt.

  6. Hail to the Redskins, and Welcome Aboard, JT. I’ve been a ‘Skins and Fins fan since ’69 or so. I love it when I can cheer for both at the same time, as in our previous very Super Bowls. The Hall of Fame Bowl ought to measure up, too. Any Given Sunday/Monday Night/Thursday-Thirsty-Turkey Day. A hearty Aloha to Colt, too. Being a Skins fan way out west in the islands is a rare treat. I think the whole NFL knows the path to the Super Bowl goes through the Valley of Pain and Uncertainty, the NFC East. This is our year.
    Hail, Hail!!

  8. I like Doug.

Jeff I agree that there have been a lot of fools on the comments. But you misread me entirely. I’m a lifelong fan who’s taking his Mom to Green and Monk’s induction for her birthday. No degenerate here.

I would love to have Matt’s job. But on your second day you have to go pick up the guy who’s the biggest news story in sports…be part of that story. I might need a change of shorts.

  9. Glad to hear that! Is he back for good? Gary for blog President in 08!

  10. Yes! Last year’s blog was fine. Hail Gary!

  11. Matt’s got better access than anyone on the planet. He gets to go pick up Jason Taylor. But he doesn’t manage to even report what he saw. This is a terrible blog.

There’s better coverage elsewhere. That’s the problem with a team-owned blogger — he only wants to cover the fluff, and can’t write anything without making sure it fits the team’s marketing message. So he’s both slow and uninteresting.

Hell, the guy could blog about getting hired, his first day, moving in, where his desk is, taking a leak in the stall next to Dan Snyder, whatever, and someone would want to read it. He’s an insider! He should have some insider stories. But this crap? Who wants to read this?

  12. “Frees you up” from covering training camp? Christ, man, what do you think we want to read about? Who is this clown?

    This is not a fan’s perspective. It’s a corporate tool’s perspective.
